Throughout the year, the APDA Massachusetts Chapter provides educational programs across the state. Each program is tailored to meet the learning objectives of its intended audience. APDA MA Virtual Educational Series: Bringing Information to You at Home!

This virtual educational series covers a wide variety of topics relevant to people with Parkinson’s, care partners, and other community members. Recorded webinars are available below, and information on upcoming programs is available on our Upcoming Events page.

APDA Parkinson’s Good Start Program

APDA Parkinson’s Good Start Program is a program for individuals recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (within the past three years) and their family members. This program, developed at Boston University, takes place in different regions of the state. PD experts present up-to-date lectures. Participants attend two sessions and receive information on diagnosis, medication management, and other strategies that promote wellness. APDA PRESS Program

Parkinson’s Roadmap for Support Services (PRESS) is an 8 week support series with tailored content to address the psychosocial needs of those who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) within the last five years. PRESS provides an opportunity for people with PD and one care partner or family member to meet with others facing a similar experience and share coping strategies regarding day-to-day issues related to living with Parkinson’s. For many people with PD, the program is a gateway to education, support services, and community-based advocacy. PRESS is a place to share their experiences, feelings, and strategies for coping with the disease. This program is facilitated by a licensed social worker and includes guest speakers. APDA Care Partner Connection Program

APDA Care Partner Connection Program is a multi-week Care Partner support series. Modeled after the APDA PRESS program for newly diagnosed, this series offers the opportunity to connect with other care partners for emotional support and sharing. The group also provides education about planning for the future and practical resources. This program was designed for care partners who are looking for a space to share their feelings and learn more about PD caregiving considerations. It consists of interactive sessions; discussions and brainstorming to help you take the tools and resources you learn about and put them into action in your life. APDA Support Group Facilitator Conference

This annual program provides an opportunity for support facilitators to come together for education, group discussion, and networking with other leaders across the region. Continuing education units are provided.
