Throughout the year, the APDA Massachusetts Chapter provides educational programs across the state. Each program is tailored to meet the learning objectives of its intended audience. These seminars, symposia, and training programs are listed on our events calendar. Educational programs sponsored by other agencies may also be listed. Signature Programs

APDA MA Virtual Educational Series: Bringing Information to You at Home!

This virtual educational series covers a wide variety of topics relevant to people with Parkinson’s, care partners, and other community members. Recorded webinars are available below, and information on upcoming programs is available on our Upcoming Events page.

APDA Parkinson’s Good Start Program

APDA Parkinson’s Good Start Program is a program for individuals recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (within the past three years) and their family members. This program, developed at Boston University, takes place in different regions of the state. PD experts present up-to-date lectures. Participants attend two sessions and receive information on diagnosis, medication management, and other strategies that promote wellness. The important role of exercise is highlighted as well as the opportunity to meet members of the healthcare team.

APDA PRESS Program

APDA PRESS (Parkinson’s Roadmap for Support Services) is a program designed for individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease within five years. This 8-week in person support series is designed to address the psychosocial needs of participants. Content is tailored to provide education and foster discussion. Meetings are facilitated by a health professional who has received PRESS training. Care partners may also participate. The group size is limited to fifteen participants.

APDA New England Regional Conference

This two-day biennial program (established in 1989) provides education, resources, networking, and support. PD experts including individuals living with Parkinson’s, care partners, healthcare providers, and researchers deliver informative lectures and workshops. Vendors from across the region display information on products and services. The conference also includes an evening of music, dance and lots of fun. This program is a collaboration between APDA New England Regional Information and Referral Centers and Chapters.

APDA Support Group Facilitator Conference

This annual program provides an opportunity for support facilitators from across the region to come together for education, group discussion, and networking with other leaders in MA. Continuing education units are provided.
