People of all ages are welcome, and encouraged, to volunteer. This is your way to make a difference in lives of Iowans impacted with Parkinson’s. you will have the opportunity to connect with others who are committed to helping our PD community live life to the fullest.

We need volunteers throughout the year and will work with you to find what best fits your availability, skills and interests. There are worthwhile, valuable opportunities whether you are interested in a one-time, once a year, or a long-term commitment.  Options include Special Events, Planning committees, Support Group leaders, office assistants, and more.

Help is always welcome before, during or after an event. Duties can include packing goodie bags, delivering materials and signage, assisting with registration, helping with parking, setting up and taking down tables and signage, and guiding guests at the event. We look for people who are courteous, personable, dependable, and punctual.

Support Group Leaders

Support groups are for people with Parkinson’s and their caregivers. Each support group is facilitated by a peer, care partner, or health professional. The format of each support group varies, but many have monthly speakers who speak about topics such as nutrition, exercise, physical therapy, and voice therapy.  Leader training is provided.

Office Assistant Volunteers

The Office Assistant will perform a variety of tasks depending on project deadlines in the APDA office. This will include answering phones, data entry, mailings, educational material packet assembly and other administrative tasks.
