Join us for the APDA Polk County Optimism Walk!

Walkers will come together nationwide in 2025 to step towards supporting all people affected by Parkinson’s disease. Your fundraising dollars at the Polk County walk will go directly toward the local community, expanding local programs and services to help more people with Parkinson’s disease live life to the fullest, as well as fund cutting-edge research to help find better treatments and ultimately, a cure.

Connect with the Care Team is a casual presentation with Q&A provided by the APDA Florida Chapter. Parkinson’s Care Team providers bring their expertise on various subjects and topics to consider during your or a loved one’s PD journey. CWCT is intended for People with Parkinson’s, their Care Partners, families, and friends looking to support persons impacted by Parkinson’s.

The APDA Parkinson Roadmap for Education and Support Services™ (PRESS) is an 8-week program that provides an opportunity for people with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) and one partner or other family member to meet with other PWP facing a similar experience and share coping strategies regarding day-to-day issues related to living with Parkinson’s.

Session 2: Medication Management of Parkinson’s
Session 3: Importance of Exercise in PD
Session 4: Dealing with Physical Symptoms of PD
Session 5: Impact of Parkinson’s on Daily Coping and Relationships

Session 7: Caring for Others, Caring for Yourself
Session 8: Building Your Healthcare Team

The group warmly welcomes any adult who has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease within the last 5 years. There is no cost for this program, as we believe in making our community support accessible to all.
