Volunteer Opportunities – We need YOU!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) Florida Chapter.  There are many ways to volunteer for our organization. Please review the following opportunities below.

  • APDA Florida Impact Partner
    • Do you enjoy connecting with your community? Are you outgoing and like sharing information and resources in a public forum? You may be a great fit for the Impact Partner opportunity. Share the mission of APDA at networking events, presentations, health fairs, and more. We are seeking a people-oriented individual who is dedicated to APDA and is eager to collaborate with APDA Florida staff to foster a positive partnership throughout the state.
  • Board of Directors
    • Are you looking for a way to support the APDA Florida Chapter in raising awareness and building a sustainable future for the Parkinson’s community? Your leadership, reach, and professional skills can help APDA expand programs, services, community, and research towards a world without Parkinson’s disease.
  • Speakers Bureau (SB)
    • Do you enjoy public speaking and want to help APDA educate the community? As a member of the SB, you will receive training, mentor with a fellow SB, and receive certification to present to the public on Parkinson’s.
  • Committee Member
    • There are groups charged with fundraising, education, Optimism Walk planning, and more. If you like to socialize with like-minded PD advocates, joining a committee is for you!
  • Support Group Facilitator/Monitor
    • Led by a counseling professional (such as an LCSW, MSW, etc.), support groups offer a level of community unmatched. As a monitor, you would help facilitators plan presenters, navigate when groups split into PWP/CP, and fill in when other leaders are unavailable.
  • Connecting Through Art Facilitator
    • Do you have a passion for art and are comfortable with instructing a project to a group? Our CTA program brings together PD peers to socialize and express their feelings through art in a safe, no-cost environment, with no prior art skills required.
  • Events and Outreach
    • Our largest fundraising event each year is the Optimism Walk. This event would not be possible without the help of the planning committee and logistics team. There are many duties where volunteers are needed to help the event run smoothly! Other events include health fairs, DIY fundraisers, and assisting with setup and cleanup for Signature Programs.
