Virtual APDA Parkinson’s Roadmap for Education and Support Services (PRESS)

American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA) Rhode Island Chapter is proud to offer a special 8-week program for people who have been living with PD for the past 1-5 years. This unique program, titled PRESS, melds education about different aspects of living well with PD with psychosocial support and sharing. Care-partners and adult family members of the person with PD are encouraged to attend the PRESS sessions as well. Attendance at all sessions is recommended to reap the maximum benefits of the program.

There is no cost to attend the PRESS program, but pre-registration is required. This is a virtual program held via Zoom.

Session 2: Dealing with Physical Symptoms of PD (Tuesday, September 17, 2024)

Session 3: Medication Management of Parkinson’s Disease (Tuesday, September 24, 2024)

Session 4: Importance of Exercise in PD (Tuesday, October 1, 2024)

Session 5: Impact of Parkinson’s on Daily Coping and Relationships (Tuesday, October 8, 2024)

Session 6: Tips for Daily Living (Tuesday, October 15, 2024)

Session 7: Caring for Others, Caring for Yourself (Tuesday, October 22, 2024)

Session 8: Building Your Healthcare Team (Tuesday, October 29, 2024)

The group is open to any adult who has been living with Parkinson’s disease for the past 1-5 years, their care partner, and adult family members. 26th Annual Optimism Walk & 5k Fun Run, Warwick City Park

We are excited for the next 2024 APDA Optimism Walk season! 

The Optimism Walk is a family-friendly fundraising event that offers a short walk and 5k Fun Run option, and is an important opportunity for friends, families, and individuals impacted by Parkinson’s to take their passion for the cause and participate in an experience aimed to improve the lives for those impacted by Parkinson’s disease. The event registration starts at 9:00am, the Optimism Walk and 5k Fun Run take off late morning, followed by lunch and a ceremony with raffle winners and awards. Participants and sponsors are encouraged to share photos and stories of the day using #OptimismWalk to show strength in optimism and hope in progress. You can register here!


Inaugural Magic of Hope Gala & Auction, Providence Omni Hotel

The inaugural Magic of Hope Gala & Auction in Rhode Island is predicted to be one of our region’s largest fundraisers of the year as well as a highly memorable celebration! It will be held at the beautiful Providence Omni Hotel, in the heart of downtown Providence. All proceeds benefit APDA Rhode Island and support our local programs, services, and research for the Parkinson’s community. Join us for a fun-filled night of cocktails, dinner, merriment and more at the APDA Magic of Hope Gala & Auction.
