Respite Care

The Robert W. Hamill, MD Respite Care Program

Relief for People living with Parkinson’s in Vermont

The APDA is very aware of the enormous contribution that care partners offer every day to people with Parkinson’s disease. We also know that caregivers cannot give unendingly without some time and space to recharge themselves. Sometimes, the caregiver is not comfortable leaving a family member alone. This program is designed to help pay for short-term home care to supplement the care usually provided by family members. This allows the family caregivers to know their loved one is safe in the home while they are gone.

The Robert W. Hamill, MD Respite Care Program is available to all people with Parkinson’s disease who are living at home in Vermont with an unpaid care partner. We offer payment for a maximum of 8 hours per month of respite care or adult day care provided by any of the statewide agencies with whom we have a contract. For more information call 802-847-3366.
