Georgia Cares

Georgia Cares is a private-public partnership, administered by the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Aging Services (DAS).  Georgia Cares is a volunteer-based program that provides free, unbiased and factual information and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries and SMP (formerly Senior Medicare Patrol).  Georgia Cares local office:  1-866-55AGING (1-866-552-4464)

Extra Help with Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Costs

  • The Social Security Administration (SSA) launched a new strategy to inform relatives and caregivers of low-income Medicare beneficiaries about the “extra help” available to assist them with the cost of the Prescription Drug Program.
  • Extra Help with Medicare prescription drug costs! Depending on your income and resources, you may be able to get help paying for your premiums, annual deductible, and the cost of medications covered by your plan, with an average value of $5,100 per year.
