Local Resources for People with Parkinson’s
Exercise & Wellness Classes
Exercise is not just recommended; it’s critical for people with Parkinson’s disease. As gyms, workshops, and trainers make options available, we post them here. These classes range from dance and yoga to rowing and boxing. There is something for everyone.
These support groups are for people with Parkinson’s, their families, and caregivers. They are facilitated groups that meet regularly to discuss how to handle their disease and treatment and provide networking and community.
Movement Disorder Specialist
APDA Wisconsin maintains a list of movement disorders specialists in the state and provides a link to Partners in Parkinson’s Finder Tool, so that you can find the medical professional best able to address your issues.
Financial Support
APDA Wisconsin has a limited amount of funds available to assist people with Parkinson’s disease (PWP) who are experiencing financial difficulties.
Approved applicants can receive $400 every twelve (12) months. This fund is intended to help improve the quality of life of a person with Parkinson’s.
Community Grant Program
APDA Wisconsin offers Community Grants to help qualified professionals bring new Parkinson’s-specific exercise and wellness programs to life. These grants are designed to remove financial barriers to launching classes that promote strength, mobility, balance, and overall well-being for people living with PD—helping them live more active, confident lives while expanding access to these critical services throughout Wisconsin.
