Subject: Public Comment on National Plan to End Parkinson’s

Dear Dr. Gladman,

I am writing to share my comments regarding the National Plan to End Parkinson’s. I am a [person living with Parkinson’s/care partner/clinician/researcher/advocate/family member/community member], and I appreciate the opportunity to provide input.

Why this issue matters to me: [Briefly describe your connection to Parkinson’s disease. You may wish to include a short personal story about how Parkinson’s disease has impacted your life, your family and your community.]

Key concerns or priorities: Putting the plan into action is what matters most. A strong national plan needs clear deadlines, measurable goals, and ongoing coordination led by NIH across federal agencies, so it leads to real results.

Recommended actions:

  • Estimate how much funding is needed to prevent, diagnose, treat, and eventually cure Parkinson’s. This should be a clear, evidence-based estimate with stated assumptions and phases, so Congress can provide the right level of funding and the country can build a serious long-term plan instead of relying on small, short-term increases.
  • Focus on improving daily life for people with Parkinson’s and their families at every stage of life, including younger people and older adults. The report should give clear steps to improve access to high-quality care, improve health outcomes, and reduce the financial strain Parkinson’s places on families.
  • Set firm but realistic deadlines to make up for lost time and keep the work moving. NIH should set clear progress checkpoints, provide regular public updates, and maintain transparency.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I urge you to ensure that the National Parkinson’s Plan reflects the lived experiences and urgent needs of people affected by Parkinson’s disease.

Sincerely,
