Live Well Recap

Thank you for attending!

On August 22nd, over 60 people participated in a new program hosted by the APDA South Florida Chapter called Live Well. The one day workshop featured wellness classes and information sessions designed to educate and empower those diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, their friends and family members.

The workshop took place in Delray Beach. People came all the way from Palm Beach Gardens to Pembroke Pines to participate in activities such as Rock Steady Boxing, PWR!Drums, Dance for PD and information sessions. “We wanted to provide something different,” said Rebecca Hahessy, Program Director for the South Florida Chapter. “Combining all the resources in the community under one roof was a huge success!”. Ken, a person with Parkinson’s couldn’t have agreed more. “I found the seminar very informative and enjoyable. Equally if not more so, I made some contacts.”

Ken plans on attending a support group next month.

We want to thank our sponsors again for making this possible; US WorldMeds, Abbott, Acadia Pharmaceuticals, Lifecare of Florida, Lundbeck, Marcus Neuroscience Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Medtronic, ClearCaptions, The Senior Care Connector, and Trustbridge

Thank you to Bear’s Food Shack and Hospital without Walls for providing breakfast and to Senior Helpers for sponsoring the water table.

Most importantly thank you to the Live Well planning committee and all of the speakers and facilitators for the workshop.
