December 8th, 2017 Providence Gay Men’s Chorus Benefit Concert for RI APDA

The Providence Gay Men’s Chorus under the artistic direction of Kim Kuda will perform their Holiday Kaleidoscope Concert on Friday, December 8th at 7pm to benefit our Rhode Island Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association. The concert will be held at the Beneficent Church,  300 Weybosset St in Providence. Tickets may be purchased  at the door or online at http://www.provgmc.org/concerts

December 9th, 2017 – David R. Ball, Esquire speaks at Friends & Family Support Group in East Greenwich

Please join us for our next Friends & Family Parkinson’s Care-partner Support Group in East Greenwich. We will meet on Saturday,  December 9th at Atria Harborhill, 159 Division Street, East Greenwich, RI at 10 AM.     This month we will have a speaker. David R. Ball, Esquire from Ball Law Associates (501 Centerville Rd. Suite 105A, Warwick, RI)  will discuss “Some Important Legal Issues for: Individuals with Parkinson’s; and spouses of Individuals with Parkinson’s” This group is intended for people caring for someone with PD. December 13th – Westerly Support Group at The Elms

Please join us for our December meeting of the  Parkinson’s Support Group in Westerly. We will meet on Wednesday,  December 13th at The Elms, 22 Elm Street, Westerly, RI 02891 at 10 AM. (Note: Parking lot is in the back with entrance from Chestnut St) Join us to learn more about PD while meeting others from your area living with Parkinson’s. This group is open to people with Parkinson’s and their care partners and friends and will meet monthly on the 2nd Wednesday.  December’s speaker we will be Claudia Townwend, MA, CCC-SLP from the Yale New Haven Health – Westerly Hospital.  She will discuss LSVT LOUD speech therapy and swallowing issues in Parkinson’s!  For more information please call Mary Ellen at 401-736-1046


December 14th  – RI Chapter Board Meeting- Kent Hospital

The next general meeting of the APDA Rhode Island Chapter will be on Thursday, December 14th at 6:30PM. We meet the second Thursday each month at Kent Hospital in the Doctor’s Auditorium on the first floor. This meeting is open to the public and all are welcome. Please call 401-736-1046 and let us know if you plan to attend as the room can be changed to accommodate an increased attendance.

January 28th, 2018 DBS- Deep Brain Stimulation Support Group- Warwick

The Deep Brain Stimulation Support Group in Warwick will meet on Saturday, January 28th at 10 am at Kent Hospital’s Doctor’s Auditorium 455 Tollgate Rd Warwick. The doctor’s parking lot will be open for your convenience. This will be a general discussion meeting with both those who have had DBS and those who would like to learn more about it. Representatives from Medtronic and Abbott will be in attendance!  February 24, 2018 DBS- Deep Brain Stimulation Support Group- Providence

The  Deep Brain Stimulation Support Group in Providence will meet on Saturday, February 24th at 10 am at Rhode Island Hospital’s Outpatient Rehab Building 765 Allens Ave, Suite 200 (2nd floor). Take the elevator to the 2nd floor Pediatric Conference room. There is free parking right next to this building. This will be a general discussion meeting with both those who have had DBS and those who would like to learn more about it. Representatives from Medtronic will be in attendance!
